Kolawole Oluseyi Akande

Lecturer, Gastroenterology & Hepatology Unit and Consultant Gastroenterologist & Hepatologist , University of Ibadan

I am a lecturer at the Department of Medicine and the Infectious Disease Institute of the college of Medicine, University of Ibadan and a consultant Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. After my undergraduate training at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, I had my specialist training in Gastroenenterology, Hepatology and digestive endoscopy at the University college Hospital, Ibadan and MedIndia Hospital, Chennai, India between 2007 and 2013.I was awarded the fellowship of the west African College of Physicians in internal medicine-Gastroenterology with prizes for the best fellowship candidate and the best dissertation in the faculty of internal medicine in 2013. I was elected a member of the Royal College of Physician of Glasgow in 2015 and hold a master of science in Human Nutrition from the University of Ibadan. I was a visiting scholar at the center for Global Health, University of Chicago in 2017. I have an academic and clinical interest in the health and diseases of the gut and the liver. I am the principal investigator of Ibadan hepatitis registry.
