Lecturer in Structural Timber Engineering, The University of Queensland

During my PhD, I researched the seismic performance of connections in tall timber buildings. I focused mainly on cross laminated timber (CLT) and laminated veneer lumber (LVL), both of which are mass timber products. The supplier I worked with, XLam, was shortly after acquired by Hyne Timber and opened the first CLT production line in Australia. I now research adaptable timber buildings designed for disassembly and reuse at end of life.
I am a Steering Committee member of the CTBUH's 'The Future Potential of Steel-Timber Hybrid Structures' research project, and lead the adaptability theme of Working Group 1 of the COST Action 'Holistic Design of Taller Timber Buildings'.
I am also a founding member of the International Association for Mass Timber Construction, who engage in advocacy and education on mass timber construction across the world.
