Postdoctoral Fellow in International Network on Technology, Work, and Family, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM)

I used hegemonic and hybrid masculinities theories, Deleuzian theory, and interrogated a feminist ethics of care to learn about and critique the discourses of masculinity in online men’s rights communities on Reddit. My dissertation research seeks to question the socio-political impacts of masculinities discourses, the role that media communities and platforms have on individuals and social life, and the implications of these discourses and media landscapes on power and domination.

I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at Université du Québec à Montréal with the International Network on Technology, Work and Family (INTWAF). My research in this position seeks to understand manager relationships with surveillance software and its effects on workplace leadership, trust, and employee satisfaction. The first phase of this research is focused on managers who are also involved in a personal privacy-oriented online community, and so the ethical implications of using this technology are of particular interest in addition to the practical use information about employee surveillance.
