Senior Lecturer, Department of History, University of the Witwatersrand

I am a cultural historian of eastern Africa. My primary research interests include African popular culture, African print cultures and circular discourses, grassroots transnational anti-apartheid solidarities, family and affective bonds in exile, and life history writing.
I am based at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where I teach four undergraduate courses in African and Indian Ocean history and one postgraduate course in historical methods, sources and approaches.
