Senior Lecturer and Musical Theatre Programme Leader, University of Winchester

Matthew Lockitt holds a PhD in Theatre and Performance Research (Musical Theatre) from Monash University, Melbourne. He is currently the Programme Leader and a Senior Lecturer in Musical Theatre at the University of Winchester. His research primarily centres around musical theatre dramaturgy and he is published in the journal Studies in Musical Theatre, and the books Gestures of Music Theatre: The Performativity of Song and Dance, Oxford University Press, and The Routledge Companion to the Contemporary Musical. As a director and dramaturg, Matt is an advocate for new musical theatre writing.
