Matteo Tiratelli teaches political sociology at UCL's Social Research Institue. His recent research has examined the link between Universal Credit and crime, whether stop and search reduces crime, the 2011 London Riots and the history of rioting in nineteenth century Britain.

Matteo also writes regularly for mainstream publications (Novara Media, Tribune, Open Democracy, New Socialist, Wired) on subjects including Labour's response to the energy crisis; wheat prices & the war in Ukraine; whether riots are counterproductive; and how stop and search does not work against violent crime.
