Professor in Media Studies, University of the Witwatersrand

I am the author of three monographs exploring different aspects of consumer culture and the media, and the co-editor of four books exploring different aspects of media and consumption. I have also published widely in key cultural studies and communications journals. I write on celebrity, aspiration, inequality, commodities, and waste. I am increasingly interested in the links between consumer society, quality of life (happiness), and environmental and planetary sustainability.
