Michael Wilby

Mike works in a number of areas in the Philosophy of Mind, with particular focus on how we relate to, interact with, and understand other people. He has published and presented on a variety of topics relating to social cognition and intersubjectivity, and is currently working on the role that perception plays in the understanding of others’ minds.

Before joining Anglia Ruskin, Mike worked as an EFL teacher in Prague and London, and then as a graduate teaching assistant in philosophy at the University of York, where he completed his PhD on the topic of Intentionality and Social Cognition. He won the 2010 Philosophical Explorations Essay Prize, for his paper The Simplicity of Mutual Knowledge, and is currently the editor of the leaf category joint attention at philpapers.org.

Mike teaches: Introduction to Philosophy, Rights and Responsibilities, The Rationalists - Early Modern Philosophy, Mind and World, Varieties of Scepticism, and Concepts of Good and Evil.
