Professor and Director, Centre for Energy Data Innovation, The University of Queensland

Neil Horrocks is Professor and Director of the UQ Centre for Energy Data Innovation. The Centre for Energy Data Innovation undertakes research using near real-time big data from low voltage electricity networks. The Centre incorporates an Advance Queensland Platform Technology Project in oartnership with Redback Technologies and includes collaborations with Energy Queensland, Springfield Land Corporation and Microsoft. Key research areas include network data infrastructure, network management using big data and network intelligence from big data as well as visualisation of energy data for individuals and industry professionals.

Neil Horrocks has been closely aligned with the Energy industry for 30 years ago in the fields of electricity and gas, residential and industry, retail and distribution

Prior to joining The University of Queensland, Neil was the CEO of CitySmart, Brisbane’s Sustainability Agency whose aim was to promote the value of living and working sustainably, and provide the knowledge and tools to achieve this.
