R.D. Wright Biomedical NHMRC Career Development Fellow, Deakin University

A/Prof Olivia Dean based within the School of Medicine, Deakin University and holds honorary appointments with the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, the Department of Psychiatry, University of Melbourne and Barwon Health.

During her research career, A/Prof. Dean has been responsible for the development and coordination of several multi-centre, international clinical trials. A/Prof. Dean's current research interests include both basic and clinical science and centre around developing treatments targeting oxidative biology and inflammation in several psychiatric disorders.

She is currently running several clinical trials investigating new therapies, targeting new pathways in depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and autism. This research may not only benefit individuals with these disorders, but will also provide important evidence to better understand the underlying biological factors involved in the development of these disorders.
