Omar Ilyas is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Public Health and worked as a writer for the Michigan Journal of International Affairs. He developed and disseminated a research-based digital literacy curriculum for both formerly incarcerated youth and adults in Detroit. This work culminated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit Award from the University of Michigan.
