Professor of Psychology for Education, University of Manchester

Pamela is Professor of Psychology for Education at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. Her research is focused on the importance of social relationships, and she has two strands to her work: (1) loneliness and peer relationship problems, and (2) emotional intelligence. She has, in my work, explored the causes and consequences of loneliness, and explored individual differences in the prospective profile of loneliness across ontogeny. Pamela led the BBC Loneliness Experiment, the world’s largest survey of loneliness.
