Associate Director, Food and Agriculture Institute, University of The Fraser Valley

Dr. Rob Newell is an Associate Director of the Food and Agriculture Institute at UFV. Rob’s research focuses on critical sustainability issues including climate change and biodiversity loss and approaches to sustainable community development. At the Food and Agriculture Institute, he designs and leads projects on food sustainability topics, such as the role of agricultural technologies in climate action and land conservation, group environmental farm planning for watershed protection, food systems vulnerabilities, and integrated food systems planning and planning. Rob also develops tools for facilitating more inclusive, collaborative approaches to planning, and his research involves using game development software to build realistic visualizations for participatory planning and community engagement.
