Millennium Promise Fellow and Senior Research Officer, African Population and Health Research Center

Dr. Oti is a Kenya-based medical doctor and public health specialist with expertise in conducting community-based research and providing technical assistance in the areas of HIV/AIDS, non-communicable diseases (NCD), aging, and mortality measurement programs in developing countries.

His experience also includes working with and providing technical assistance to international, governmental, and non-governmental organizations in the areas of data quality assessment, health systems strengthening, and national health policy review and formulation. Dr. Oti has authored several peer-reviewed publications and presented scientific papers at several regional and international conferences.

In 2013, Dr. Oti was awarded the East Africa Social Science Translation (EASST) Visiting Scholar Fellowship by the Center for Effective Global Action at the University of California in Berkeley, United States –the highest ranked public university in North America. This was followed in 2015 by the Millennium Promise Award: Emerging Leader Short Research Fellowship granted by the Non-Communicable Chronic Disease Research Leadership Program of the Wits Health Consortium, University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.

He currently leads the NCD theme at the African Population and Health Research Center in Nairobi-Kenya.
