Sarah Ryan Enright

PhD Researcher, Marine Environmental Law, University College Cork

Sarah Ryan Enright is a PhD student at the School of Law and MaREI: the SFI Research Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine, University College Cork, carrying out research on legal frameworks for marine biodiversity protection, with a particular focus on marine protected areas and regional ocean governance. This study is funded by the Irish Marine Institute in the context of the Navigate project for Ocean Law and Marine Governance (Grant-Aid Agreement No. PBA/IPG/17/01). Prior to commencing PhD research in September 2018, Sarah worked on the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador at the Charles Darwin Research Station.

Sarah holds a BCL in Law and German from UCC, an LLM in European, Comparative and International Law from the European University Institute, Florence and was called to the Bar of Ireland in 2007. Subsequent to qualifying as a Barrister, Sarah worked as a lawyer in the European Court of Justice and with the United Nations.
