Stephen Goldstein

PhD student in virology, University of Pennsylvania

I am currently a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology, with a specialization in virology. My research currently consists of exploring the interaction between human respiratory coronaviruses and the innate immune system and the basic biology of MERS-CoV. Additionally, we have begun studies into the immune response to Zika virus infection.

Previously I received an ScM from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology. While there I studied how alphaviruses interact with the immune response in infected neurons, and how this may contribute to the development of disease.
