Program Director - Mosaic Initiative, Indiana University

Tracey Birdwell, Ph.D., serves as the Program director of the Mosaic Initiative (mosaic@iu.edu) at Indiana University. She leads a University-wide initiative to support active learning in all IU classrooms. In her role, Dr. Birdwell heads the Mosaic Fellows program and oversees outreach to the hundreds of instructors who teach in IU's active learning classrooms. She also engages in research focused on how faculty teach in IU’s learning spaces. Dr. Birdwell blogs regularly on the different ways that active learning classrooms have transformed teaching and learning at Indiana University.

She has published her work in EDUCAUSE Quarterly, The Journal of Learning Spaces, Campus Technology, The Conversation, and in the Journal on Centers for Teaching and Learning.

Tracey earned her Ph.D. in American History from the University of Delaware.
