Vigya has several years’ experience in applied research across domestic and international energy and mining sectors. Her broad interests are in areas at the intersection of society and the natural environment, with recent projects examining the social aspects of energy transitions. She has led research on understanding social and institutional barriers to fossil-fuel phase outs in Australia, India, and China, and interrogating the idea of 'just transitions'.

She has an interdisciplinary background with degrees in engineering and social sciences. Since 2023, Vigya has been a member of the Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition, an Independent Advisory Council to the UN Secretary-General, to contribute to their goal to build a coalition to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
