A better understanding of saltwater crocodile genetics

Research undertaken over five years by a group of undergraduates has come to fruition in the publication of a study on the genetics of saltwater crocodiles.

The research, conducted by students at the University of Sydney, has led to a better understanding of the distribution of saltwater crocodiles in nine different river basins in the Northern Territory.

The data is important in understanding the genetic diversity of saltwater crocodile populations, and in identifying crocodiles of unknown origin.
