Better understanding of autoimmune diseases

Scientists have discovered a way to analyse a type of antibody that contributes to the disease progression of two autoimmune diseases, lupus and Sjogren’s syndrome.

Lupus and Sjogren’s syndrome occur when the body mistakenly considers healthy tissue to be a harmful substance and, as a result, produces antibodies that actually attack the body’s own organs.

The discovery may assist in targeting new therapies.
