Compassion can be taught

According to a study by The University of Wisconsin-Madison, adults can be taught to be more compassionate for others.

A range of techniques was used, including Buddhist compassion exercises, altruistic spending and audio tapes on compassion.

People became more compassionate after these activities, researchers likening the study to building a “compassion muscle”.
