Consumption of soft drinks linked to future health problems

High consumption of sugar-laden soft drinks during adolescence increases the risk of heart disease later in life.

Scientists found that 12-year-olds who drink one or more soft drinks a day have narrower arteries in the back of their eyes. This is an indicator for future cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure in adulthood.
