Business schools should consider broader perspectives of the value of management scholarship to increase engagement and the social value of research, an Australian National University paper argues.
The paper examines recent publications in the field to propose alternative approaches to business research in the face of pressure in business schools to commercialise research and maximise income.
It proposes these are valuable where stakeholders feel there is a ‘relevance gap’ between narrow economic theory and business practice.
