Equal distribution of housework? Not any time soon

Women will have to wait until 2050 before men are doing an equal share of household chores, if current trends continue.

A study from the University of Oxford found that women spend significantly more time on household chores and childcare than men, but that the gender gap is slowly narrowing.

But the goal of equality in housework and childcare faces significant barriers, including the views of whether certain household chores are “men’s” or “women’s work”, and government policies which influence women’s access to child care and employment.
