Real-time data from a major urban flood event has been captured and reported for the first time.
When the Brisbane River flooded in January of this year, researchers at Queensland University of Technology captured various data, including the velocity and height of floodwaters and the make-up of sediment left behind by the receding waters.
The data will be used to assist engineers, urban designers and disaster management planners in preparing for future flood events.
