Universidad Nacional de Rio Negro

The National University of Río Negro was founded on December 19, 2007, with the aim of consolidating itself as a dynamic and entrepreneurial university, in order to facilitate the professionalization of young people in the region; promote culture and actively participate in the establishment of a fairer economic system.

The UNRN is a free educational institution that is considered a public good, it is autonomous and autarkic, it is a scientific and cultural field of work with a national conscience, which contributes to training in knowledge in equal opportunities, in a popular, humanistic and of solidarity with a gender and disability perspective, which accompanies the production and dissemination of science, technology and art, in a sustainable development model for the region through training and extension. It disseminates and promotes values, forms of culture and studies the reality of the country, Latin America and the world, accepting that each territorial space is, in turn, linked to a global and interconnected world.

At present, it is an institution with a deep influence in the vast territory of the province of Río Negro, of more than 200 thousand km2; And after a decade, it has reached a prominent place at the national level for its commitment to the comprehensive training of its students, its dynamism, and leadership in the initiation of professional careers and technology transfer that entails a significant impact on regional development .

With a university government system that integrates civil organizations and government institutions into the deliberations of this academic institution, it has consolidated the approach of an entrepreneurial, associative and innovative university with which it began its activities.

In 2015 it was designated as the “Best Regional University” and its Rector as the “Best Rector of the Year”, distinctions granted by the European Business Assembly in Oxford, England. In 2017 she was awarded in Vienna, Austria, with the quality award “International Diamond Prize for Excellence in Quality”, one of the main distinctions of the annual recognition program of the European Society for Quality Research – ESQR, of Switzerland, which seeks to expand the culture of quality and motivate the implementation of quality programs and models.

Since 2017, the UNRN has emphasized the development of policies aimed at gender equality. Since then, institutional life has been governed by a Violence Protocol for Action in Situations of Direct and Indirect Violence based on Gender. The UNRN is a pioneer in applying non-sexist language in its Statute.
