Next-gen smart materials to help with optical sensing

CSIRO researchers have developed a new family of ultra-porous smart materials for use in optical sensing and drug storage and delivery. The “metal-organic frameworks” are used as sponges for storing gases like hydrogen and carbon dioxide. One gram of the ultra-thin material can have the surface area of more than three football fields.
