Positive steps in treating anorexia nervosa

Changes to the treatment of anorexia nervosa have shown to improve the chance of sustained recovery.

In a clinical trial conducted by the University of Sydney, University of London and University of Chicago, 85% of those who enrolled in the trial completed treatment, which is almost three times the usual retention rate.

The study found when focusing less on weight gain and more on quality of life, patients reported reduced symptoms of mood disorders, enhanced social adjustment and an increase in their BMI.
