Associate Professor, Neurology, Wake Forest University

I am a neurologist trained in intensive care medicine and take care of life threatening neurological diseases. My work involves taking care of patients who have brain disorders like brain swelling, stroke, brain bleeds, seizures, brain infections or autoimmune conditions attacking brain, spinal cord or nerves. I also take care of patients who undergo complex brain and spine surgeries in their postoperative time. My clinical work involves working with multiple other specialists and helping patient's families deal with a loved one being in critical condition. Having difficult discussions about life and death and quality of life is key to my commitment to patient care.
As an academic physician, I am also involved in teaching our next generation of physicians as well research in improving clinical outcomes. I believe in using the outreach of social media in promoting medical education as well as advocacy regarding issues that impact patient care. Use of technology to improve patient care and physician patient interactions is one of the areas I would like to see more development in.
