Abdulghani Mohamed

Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering, RMIT University

Dr Abdulghani Mohamed has completed a PhD in Aerospace Engineering at RMIT University. He has successfully made some noteworthy contributions to aeronautical engineering. His research is internationally recognised with respect to enhancing the resilience of aircraft in adverse weather. He was named Australia’s Top Aerospace Innovator in 2015. The impact from his research was recognised by two Research Impact Awards (2020, 2021). Dr Mohamed was awarded Australian Scientist of the year in 2021 and Engineering Professional of the Year in 2022. He was also named among Australia’s top defence scientists in 2019-2021, and among elite leaders in the unmanned systems sector in 2021. Dr Mohamed is also a member of a few international research committees and is involved in contemporary research with other world-leading scientists around the globe. He co-founded and co-leads the RMIT UAS Team (ruasrt.com), which is internationally-leading UAV research with a reputation for solving industry problems using robotics. Dr Mohamed is a multi-disciplinary researcher working across a number of areas (robotics, aerodynamics, turbulence, biomimetics, and sensors)
