Professor in Health Policy and Director, Centre for Health Policy, The University of Melbourne

Professor Elshaug is Professor in Health Policy with joint appointments across the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health and Melbourne Medical School (MSPGH). He is also Director of the Centre for Health Policy within MSPGH, The University of Melbourne. For 2019-20 he was a Visiting Fellow with the USC-Brookings Schaeffer Initiative for Health Policy, The Brookings Institution, Washington, DC, USA. From 2013-17 he was with the Menzies Centre for Health Policy (Co-Director from 2016-2020) at The University of Sydney.

Professor Adam Elshaug is recognised internationally for his applied health policy work around optimising value in health care. His applied policy roles include as a member of the Australian Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) Review Taskforce, health economic and policy advisor to Cancer Australia and Board member of the NSW Bureau of Health Information (BHI). Adam was a 2010-11 Harkness Fellow at the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and then served as NHMRC Sidney Sax Fellow in Harvard Medical School’s Department of Health Care Policy.
