Adam Mustapha

Adam Mustapha holds a PhD in Clinical and Medical Microbiology from Near East University, Nicosia, Cyprus. He had his Masters from the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK, where he studied Biomedical Sciences with a speciality in Medical Microbiology and Bachelors from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. His masters’ research was on developing anti-cancer drug (daunorubicin) biosensors using luminescent bacteria and to check whether such biosensor could be used as a biosensor for antibiotics (fluoroquinolones). This built his interest in working towards antibiotic resistance during his doctorate research, where he focused on the emergence of antibiotic resistance genes from both clinical and non-clinical isolates. He is currently a faculty member with the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Science, University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. He has attended many conferences and workshops; the recent one is Science communication workshop organised by TReND in Africa and inducted as a Fellow, African Science literacy network (ASLN). He has published a number of scholarly articles and featured on Science Communication Hub (SciComNigeria) Nigeria, he is passionate about science and science communication to interact with other non-scientists and broad audience.
