I research behaviour change interventions in the road transport sector. I act as a boundary spanner between academic colleagues and practitioners in service delivery in municipal government across Europe. I have links with several UK universities and research institutions to help in this endeavour.

I cover the range of health impacts of road transport from the 'traditional' casualty focus and air quality to sedentary lifestyles and the health impacts such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and stroke which result from sedentary travel's contribution to the disease burden. I am keen to highlight the benefits accruing from sustainable transport, not least through co-benefits across public policy areas well beyond transport. In all of this access to robust evidence is key and a challenge to practitioners at the 'coal-face' without access to such evidence.
