Dr. Aerin Jacob is an adjunct professor in the Department of Ecosystem Science and Management at the University of Northern British Columbia, and the Director of Conservation Science and Research at the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC, www.natureconservancy.ca). She was previoulsy a Conservation Scientist at the Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y, www.y2y.net). Trained as an ecologist, she has studied animal behaviour, forest, marine, and coastal ecosystems, and 'large landscape' conservation around the world. Her research includes species at risk, ecological connectivity, human dimensions of conservation, and the role of science in law and policy. Aerin is active in science communication and policy engagement, received the 2019 Early Career Conservationist (global) award from the Society for Conservation Biology, and serves in various capacities in the non-profit and philanthropic sectors.
