Afshin Akhtar-Khavari

Professor of International Law, Queensland University of Technology

I am an interdisciplinary scholar of international law and international relation drawing on the literature from ecology, philosophy and theory more generally. My work and my degrees help imagine alternative ways of thinking about the foundations of certain legal and ecological problems. I have been a professor since 2018 and an associate professor before that for 5 years. I am currently the Director for Research at the QUT School of Law. I have taken part in different international academic and other forum, including for instance participating as a lead author in the Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services where I assisted with the Land Degradation and Restoration assessment.
