Ahmad Suaedy lectures in Archipelago Islamic Politics in Postgraduate Program, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Indonesia (UNUSIA) Jakarta. He is also a member of Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, senior researcher at Abdurrahman Wahid Centre-UI and Center for Islam and Southeast Asian Studies at The Wahid Institute (Wahid Foundation) and Director Institute for Southeast Asian Islam (ISAIs)-Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN), Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

He obtained doctoral degree from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta on March 2018 with dissertation research "Cultural Citizenship Vision of Abdurrahman Wahid in the Settlement of the Aceh and Papua Conflicts, 1999-2001".

Research topics: Minority, Islam, Religion, Human Rights, Social Movement, Politics. Specialist: Islam and minority in Southeast Asia.
