PhD Candidate in Fungal Ecology, University of Birmingham

I am a mycologist, currently in the final year of my PhD at the Birmingham Institute of Forest Research.

I work at their Free Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment (FACE) experiment, which is located in an ancient oak woodland in Staffordshire, UK. Extra carbon dioxide is being added to the air in and around the oak trees, mimicking the conditions we will expect to see in 2050 due to climate change.

My work investigates the the fungal communities in the soil, deadwood, and air, trying to understand how the extra carbon dioxide affects the fungi, and what this means for the forest and its carbon storage as a whole.
