Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management, University of East Anglia

Dr Alan Bond is Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia (UK) and Extraordinary Professor in the School of Geo and Spatial Sciences, North West University (South Africa), with 30 years’ experience in Impact Assessment (EA). He runs a full-time MSc programme on Environmental Assessment and Management at the University of East Anglia. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Elsevier journal Environmental Impact Assessment Review and co-Chair of the International Association for Impact Assessment’s Emerging Technology section.

He has previously conducted research for the World Health Organization, European Commission, Health Development Agency, European Environment Agency, Welsh Assembly Government, Environment Agency (England & Wales), and has undertaken consultancy work with Entec, Ben Cave Associates, UK Nirex Ltd., Enviros, Land Use Consultants, and the Crown Estate. He has worked as a Quality Mark Panel member for the UK Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

Dr Bond has published over 90 peer-reviewed works and has edited two key texts on sustainability assessment (Bond, A, A Morrison-Saunders and R Howitt, (editors). (2013), Sustainability Assessment: Pluralism, Practice and Progress, Built Environment Series; Taylor and Francis, London; and Morrison-Saunders, A, J Pope and A Bond, (editors). (2015), Handbook of Sustainability Assessment, Research Handbooks on Impact Assessment; Edward Elgar, Cheltenham, UK and Northampton, USA).
