Lecturer in Media, RMIT University

Alan Nguyen is an international-award-winning writer and director who lectures in Media for the School of Media and Communication, RMIT University and is a member of the Care-full Design Lab and the Screen and Sound Cultures Group.

He has written for SBS TV, ABC TV, Melbourne Theatre Company, December Media and Matchbox Pictures / NBC Universal. He served as VR designer for a film-opera (supported by Arts South Australia) and editor for two groundbreaking AR comic book anthologies published by EyeJack. His directorial film work has won international awards and screened at film festivals around the world. His musical compositions have been played on Triple J, ABC Classic FM and he has performed his music in Australia, Asia and Europe.

He has made presentations at The Fourth Asian Conference on Film And Documentary (FILMASIA2015) in Kobe, Japan; the 28th Annual Conference of the Society of Animation Studies in Singapore; the Seoul Carton and Animation Week in Seoul, Korea; and Sightlines: Filmmaking in the Academy in Melbourne, Australia. He holds a Doctor of Visual Arts qualification from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University.
