I am a sociologist who has undertaken a wide range of multi-disciplinary social sciences research and teaching on disability, welfare, work, stigma, policy discourses, hate crime and jeopardized lives. I am interested in all aspects of life as a disabled adult from economic barriers through to ontological issues of belonging and being.

Recent and current research looks at disablist hate crime, social inclusion and employment, cooperatives and direct payments, young disabled people and assistive technology and ageing well. Funders include ESRC, Technology Strategy Board, Leverhulme Trust, European Commission and UNESCO.
