Principal Research Fellow, CQUniversity Australia

I am a Principal Research Fellow and Associate Professor in the Experimental Gambling Research Laboratory at CQUniversity. I'm a named author on over 100 papers, mostly on gambling. I have received a few awards for my work, including being recognised as an ABC Radio National Top 5 Scientist in 2019 and a NSW Young Tall Poppy in 2020. Previously I was at the Centre for Gambling Education and Research at Southern Cross University, and at the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney.

My PhD was in another topic entirely. I'm interested in how we're generally poor at describing how we perceive smell, but some people are very good at it, such as perfume or wine experts. I've also published on other smell topics, including odour-colour synaesthesia.
