Ali Reza Yunespour

Academic Internships Coordinator, The University of Melbourne

Ali Reza Yunespour is an academic in the School of Social and Political Sciences at Melbourne University. His PhD thesis examines the political economy of Afghanistan’s higher education; and his research interests are education politics in fragile contexts and documentation problems for asylum seeker and refugee in Australia. He has extensive community development experience in conflict societies and has helped around 8,000 students in 23 rural schools in Afghanistan through his volunteer works with Indigo Foundation Australia. He is Board Member of Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRSA) that advocates for role of community in supporting refugees and asylum seekers. In August 2021, he was appointed as a Member of the Advisory Panel on the Resettlement of Afghan National advising Minister of Immigration and Citizenship. Previously, Ali Reza was an assistant to the Ambassador for Women and Girls in DFAT, worked as a lecturer at American University of Afghanistan in Kabul, and taught Australian citizenship at Auburn Diversity Services Inc. (ADSi). He was a People of Australia Ambassador with Australian Multicultural Council in 2012-2013 during which he advocated for social cohesion and community harmony in Australia.
