Assistant Professor of Politics, Oberlin College and Conservatory

Ali Masood is an Assistant Professor of Politics at Oberlin College. His research is on American political institutions with a focus on the U.S. Supreme Court and the lower federal courts. His work aims to provide a better understanding of the complex ways in which judicial actors, at various levels of the judiciary, interact to shape legal and policy outcomes. Masood is working on several projects, including how the Supreme Court exerts its influence in the judicial hierarchy through its shadow docket. His research is supported by the National Science Foundation and his work has been published at American Politics Research, the Journal of Law and Courts, Law & Social Inquiry, Political Research Quarterly, Politics, Groups, and Identities, PS: Political Science & Politics and Social Science Quarterly.
