Professor of Psychiatry, The University of Melbourne

Professor Alison Yung, MD, MBBS, MPM, FRANZCP, Grad Dip Epidem, is a Professor and Consultant Psychiatrist at Orygen Research Centre and The University of Melbourne, and an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow. She is Head of Psychosis Research at Orygen and has been involved in early psychosis, in both clinical and research fields, since 1993.
Prof Yung is Vice President of the International Early Psychosis Association and on the Board of the Schizophrenia International Research Society.
In recognition of her role in early psychosis, she received the Lilly Oration Award for prominence in psychiatric research in Australia and New Zealand in 2009 and the Richard J Wyatt Award “awarded to an individual who has made a remarkable contribution to the area of early intervention” in 2010. She has over 150 publications and holds over $20 million in grant funding, including being a Chief Investigator on a NHMRC Program Grant and on a NHMRC Centre for Clinical and Research Excellence grant
