My PhD explored the role of writing in undergraduate design education in the UK, which was a good starting point to rethink the teaching of academic practice, in particular study skills within Higher Education. In my work I am exploring the links between creative and academic practice, which I refer to as 'Tactile Academia'. I was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2015.
In 2016 I published a workbook for students using everyday analogies to explain the research and writing process of evidence based essays, called 'Writing by Pictures'.
