Professor of Management, Monash University

Professor Amrik Sohal initially trained as an Engineer in the UK. After working in the manufacturing industry for over a decade, he completed a PhD in Operations Management and since 1986 has been a full time academic. He has held academic positions at the University of Bradford in the UK, at The University of Melbourne and since 1991, at Monash University.

Professor Sohal has held a number of faculty level positions relating to research and higher degrees, as well as leading a number of research groups/networks at the faculty and department levels. His area of expertise broadly covers operations and supply chain management and has specific interest in healthcare improvement, food value chains, sustainability/circular economy and implementation issues. He has completed numerous projects funded by the Australian Research Council, federal and state government departments, associations/agencies and industry. He has also supervised a large number of doctoral students, winning the Vice Chancellor's Award for Postgraduate Supervision few years ago.
