Senior Lecturer and Health Psychologist, Staffordshire University

Dr Amy Burton is a Health Psychologist and Senior Lecturer in Qualitative Psychological Research Methods at Staffordshire University.

Amy's research explores health experiences including: breastfeeding, chronic pain, quality of life and wellbeing, coping and self-management, vision and hearing loss, and healthy ageing.

Amy also has expertise in behaviour change and has worked as a voluntary Consultant Behavioural Scientist for The Change Exchange (https://www.mcrimpsci.org/the-change-exchange/) advising on embedding behavioural science within training for Obstetric Health Care Professionals in Uganda.

Amy specialises in research employing visual methods such as photographs to explore health experiences. Talking to individuals about photographs chosen by them helps to ensure that research is led by the priorities and needs of those being researched, and puts participants and patients at the heart of the research process.
