PhD Candidate - Public Health, University of Wollongong

Amy Carrad is a passionate public health postgraduate student. Her PhD research is investigating the create health promoting sports clubs using an organisational change approach, with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of community members at these clubs. Organisations that are involved in the delivery of sport are well positioned to create physical, social and emotional environments that promote health as an intrinsic part of their value and operational systems.

Amy is also particularly interested in the issues of food waste and homelessness and how we can link the two to enhance the lives of people in need. Her vision is toestablish a formal process of distributing surplus edible food to those in need by creating a collaboration between the university, food insecure students and community groups.
