Amy Ellis

Dr. Amy Ellis is the Assistant Director of the Trauma Resolution & Integration Program at Nova Southeastern University (NSU). She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from NSU, her Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Adelphi University, and her undergraduate degree from Hofstra University. Dr. Ellis completed her predoctoral internship at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center, a Harvard University affiliate, and completed her postdoctoral residency at The Renfrew Center of Coconut Creek.

Dr. Ellis is involved in a variety of leadership activities within the American Psychological Association. Dr. Ellis is a Consulting Editor for three APA journals: Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, & Policy; Practice Innovations; and Professional Psychology: Research and Practice. She is also the Internet Editor for APA’s Division 29 (Psychotherapy) website.

Dr. Ellis practices from a contextual model grounded in relational theory. Her research and clinical interests include the application of attachment theory to a wide range of topics, including trauma, substance abuse, eating disorders, parenting, and models of supervision.
