Professor, School of Educational Psychology & Counselling, Monash University

My research area is mental health. More specifically, I research the impact of adversity on children and family life with a particular focus on parental mental illness and substance misuse. My endeavours result from my belief that mental illness is a family matter and we can intervene to impede the transmission of mental illness from parents to children.

My specific research areas focus on

• Parental mental health and outcomes for children
• Developing effective support structures and interventions for families facing adversity

A secondary interest is on classroom management and developing whole school approaches to welfare and behaviour management.
